What comes in the box

A kraft paper pouch, a honeycomb-wrapped bundle sealed with a None Better sticker, and a strip of stickers on a black board

Packaging is the first part of None Better anyone touches, and for a few seconds it is all anyone knows about the brand. Those few seconds set the tone for everything inside, so the packaging gets the same attention as the metal.

Here is what is in the box, piece by piece, and why each one is there.

The case

The Lil' Duggie travels in its own case: frosted plastic with clear windows, so its color shows through before the case is ever opened. In the shipping box, the case sits in a pocket cut into dense foam, so it cannot shift on the way.

The care card

Inside the case, directly behind The Lil' Duggie, is a card. One side carries The Lil' Duggie and None Better marks. The other has a QR code that opens the Care & Use page. It sits exactly where the hand goes, so the moment The Lil' Duggie comes out, how to use it and care for it is right there.

That page is not finished yet. It will hold two short videos, one on using The Lil' Duggie and one on cleaning it. Until those are ready, the page has the same steps in writing.

The accessories

Aluminum pieces packed loose knock into each other and scratch on the way. So the accessories are wrapped tight in honeycomb paper, which stretches open into a web of cells that cushions whatever is inside. A kraft band holds the wrap closed, and a None Better sticker seals it.

The accessory wrap: honeycomb paper, a kraft band and a sticker.

The wrapped bundle slides into a pouch made from 100 percent recycled paper, with the d printed on the front in black. The pouch sits in its own foam pocket under the case, so an order with accessories arrives in one box. Accessories ordered on their own ship by themselves.

The packing slip

Every order ships with a packing slip. Most are an afterthought, a printout of what was bought and where it is going. This one shows a small picture of each item beside its name, so the box can be checked against it at a glance.

Why it gets this much care

Most of the packaging is gone in a few seconds. It is also the only part of None Better anyone touches before the product itself. If any of it feels careless, the metal inside has to work harder to earn back the trust. I would rather it start ahead.

Every piece of it, from the case to the paper, is held to the same standard as the metal.

There are a couple of things in the box I am leaving out. Some of it should be found, not read about.

— None Better
